Update on Teacher Trainee Allowances Payment: 2 Months in Arrears and Funds for the 2025/2026 Year.

The government has allocated GH¢681 million in its 2026 budget for teacher and nursing trainee allowances for the 2025/2026 academic year. 

However, a payment delay exists as trainees are still owed two months of arrears from the 2024/2025 year. This affects current students in L200 to L400 and recent graduates awaiting national service.

This means the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) must clear these two months of arrears before beginning payments for the new academic year.

 The Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) is actively working to ensure allowances are disbursed regularly and urges all trainees to remain patient.

Currently, there is no fixed date for the allowance payment. Disbursement for the 2025/2026 year will begin once the Controller and Accountant General's Department (CAGD) releases the funds, after which the SLTF will process and distribute the payments.
