The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has assured teachers that the government will undertake a comprehensive review of Ghana’s pension system to enhance retirement benefits for workers, with particular attention to teachers.
According to the Minister, the planned review is aimed at guaranteeing better retirement security for educators who have devoted their lives to national development.
He gave this assurance while addressing delegates at the 7th Quadrennial National Conference of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) currently underway in Accra on January 5.
Mr. Iddrisu also expressed concern over the poor performance of students in the recently concluded West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
He noted that the results are worrying and called for a collective effort from all stakeholders to improve teaching and learning outcomes across the country.
