Trainees Allowance: TTAG Holds Productive Talks with SLTF on Allowance and Payment Challenges

The leadership of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) today met with the Chief Executive Officer of the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) and her management team to discuss pressing issues affecting teacher trainees.

The engagement focused on the timely release of trainee allowances, outstanding arrears from the previous academic year, and difficulties trainees face when accessing payments through the E-Zwich system. These concerns have continued to place financial strain on trainees across the colleges.

The SLTF CEO acknowledged these challenges and assured TTAG that steps are being taken to clear outstanding arrears as quickly as possible. She also disclosed that a new payment system is being introduced to allow allowances to be paid directly into trainees’ bank accounts and accessed via mobile banking. This system is expected to be piloted in early February, after registration and sensitization exercises.
