On July 15, 2025, the leadership of TTAG met with the National Teaching Council Registrar, Dr. Christian Addai Poku, to discuss key issues regarding the licensure examination of current Level 400 students. The main topics of discussion included the timing and modality of the licensure exams, the absence of certain courses in the portal for students to select as their subject-based knowledge, and the request for study materials to help teachers prepare for the licensure exams.
The Registrar appreciated the leadership’s proactive approach in seeking information and clarification for their constituents. He noted that the technical team’s report on licensure examination reforms was ready, pending the Honorable Minister’s final remarks.
The Registrar also acknowledged the concern about limited course options and course materials for candidates and promised to address it promptly.
Following the Honorable Minister’s declaration of abolishing the licensure examination by August 30th, the leadership plans to engage with the Minister and NTC for further clarification on the reform, particularly for Level 400 students and those who couldn’t register for the first phase. It is important to note that the current reform does not affect weekend GTLE candidates.
The meeting between TTAG leadership and the NTC Registrar was a productive step towards addressing the concerns of Level 400 students and ensuring their smooth transition into the teaching profession. By working together with the Ministry and the NTC, TTAG remains committed to supporting its members and ensuring the success of future teachers.
