Resumption Date For Colleges of Education for Second Phase of 1st Semester - 2025/2026 Academic Year

Accra, December 10, 2025 – The Principals of Colleges of Education in Ghana are set to close their institutions for the Christmas holidays earlier than originally scheduled, according to a directive issued by the PRINCOF National Executive Committee (NEC).

In a circular dated December 10, 2025, and addressed to all Principals of Public Colleges of Education, the General Secretary of PRINCOF, Dr. Samuel Addae-Boateng, announced that the Christmas break will now commence on Friday, December 12, 2025, instead of the initially planned date of December 20.

Students and staff are expected to resume academic activities on Monday, January 19, 2026.

The decision, as stated in the letter, is to facilitate the smooth completion of the admission process for applicants awaiting their 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results. The adjusted calendar is intended to provide ample time for the admission of these candidates and for them to formally report to their respective colleges.

Principals have been instructed to take all necessary steps to ensure their institutions are closed on the indicated date. They are also tasked with making appropriate internal arrangements for security, essential services, and the continuation of critical administrative functions during the holiday period.

This early break may come as welcome news to the college community, allowing for an extended holiday period while administrative preparations for the next academic cycle are finalized.
