Hon. Michael Ababioh Adu, TTAG National F.S, Donates Printer to Abetifi Presbyterian College of Education (ABCE)

In a gesture embodying the timeless appeal to civic duty famously voiced by President John F. Kennedy, Hon. Michael Ababioh Adu, the National Financial Secretary of the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG), returned to his roots on Wednesday, 26th November. His destination was the Abetifi Presbyterian College of Education (A CE), the institution he credits for his own formation, where he delivered not just a piece of equipment, but a message of responsibility and reciprocation.

The visit was anchored by a practical contribution aimed at strengthening student leadership: the donation of a brand-new EPSON L3250 printer to the college’s Students’ Representative Council (SRC). Hon. Adu emphasized that the gift was intended to serve a dual purpose—streamlining the council’s administrative and secretarial functions while also acting as a potential revenue-generating asset to fund future student-led projects and initiatives.

“Do not think about what your country can do for you; think about what you can do for your country,” Hon. Adu reflected, invoking President Kennedy’s iconic 1961 inaugural address. “For me today, ‘country’ begins here, at the very college that built me. This institution gave me knowledge, purpose, and direction. Supporting the SRC is a tangible way to contribute to its enduring legacy and ensure today’s trainees have the tools they need to lead effectively.”

The presentation was met with gratitude and a sense of renewed commitment from the student leadership. The SRC President, accepting the donation on behalf of the council, offered heartfelt appreciation to the alumnus. He assured Hon. Adu that the printer would be diligently managed and utilized to benefit not only the current SRC operations but also the entire student body and generations of trainees to come.

The donation underscores a growing emphasis on sustainable support within alumni networks, moving beyond symbolic gestures to provide resources that empower institutional growth from within. By enhancing the SRC’s operational capacity and financial independence, the gift is seen as an investment in the practical aspects of student governance and leadership development.

Hon. Adu’s homecoming and philanthropic act serve as a potent reminder that the foundation of national service is often laid in the corridors of one’s alma mater. It is a call answered not on a grand stage, but in the familiar halls where one’s own journey began, turning past privilege into present opportunity for others.
