CETAG has Commenced an Indefinite Strike and Withdrawing All Services Effective Monday, 24th November, 2025 Until Further Notice.

MEMORANDUM

Subject: Immediate Commencement of Indefinite Strike

Following the emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) held on 19th November 2025, and in consultation with the National Council, hereby direct all members to withdraw ALL SERVICES effective Monday, 24th November, 2025 until further notice.

This action has become necessary due to government's persistent failure to fully implement the National Labour Commission (NLC) arbitral award of 2nd May 2023, despite repeated engagements and reminders.

Members are reminded that the strike is necessitated by government's refusal to address the following:

1. Non-payment of All-Year-Round Work Compensation for additional duties performed in 2022 across 39 Colleges of Education, with only partial payment made to Accra College of Education.

2. Outstanding Book and Research Allowance arrears for the 2023/2024 academic year.

3. Outstanding Book and Research Allowance arrears for the 2022/2023 academic year.

4. Outstanding Book and Research Top-up arrears for the 2021/2022 academic year owed to Akrokerri College of Education.

"5. Downgrading of experienced teaching staff holding master's degrees, which undermines professional dignity and violates agreed conditions of service and the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651).

Directive

- Members are to cease all teaching, supervision of students on STS, and related academic duties immediately.

- No member should return to the lecture halls until all the listed grievances are fully resolved.

- This strike is legitimate and a lawful response to government's breach of agreements and disregard for the NLC arbitral award.

Commitment

While CETAG remains committed to quality teacher education, we will not allow our members to be exploited, disrespected, or further impoverished.

We urge all members to stand firm and united in this action until justice is served.
