UCAES Leads the Fight Against Breast Cancer Through Awareness and Free Screening

Breast cancer remains one of the most prevalent and life-threatening diseases affecting women globally, though men are not exempt. It develops when abnormal breast cells grow uncontrollably, forming a lump or tumor that may spread to other parts of the body if not detected early. Regular self-examinations, medical screenings, and public education are key strategies in reducing the number of deaths caused by this disease. Awareness initiatives therefore play a vital role in helping individuals understand the importance of prevention, early detection, and treatment.

In line with this, the University College of Agriculture and Environmental Studies(UCAES), through its Students’ Representative Council (SRC)and the Women’s Commission(WOCOM), has launched a Breast Cancer Awareness Program. This initiative seeks to educate students and the general public about the causes, risks, and prevention of breast cancer while offering free screening services. The program aims to empower participants with vital knowledge that can aid in early detection and timely medical intervention actions that can ultimately save lives.

The UCAES Breast Cancer Awareness Program demonstrates the university’s unwavering commitment to promoting good health and well-being within its community. Through education and free screening, the SRC and WOCOM encourage students and staff to adopt healthy lifestyles, engage in regular health check-ups, and prioritize self-care. This effort not only supports the fight against breast cancer but also fosters a culture of awareness and responsibility that extends beyond the campus to the wider society.
