Payment Update
The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has paid allowances to about 40,150 teacher trainees in the total for the 1st and 2nd phases of payment, with approximately 27,000 trainees still awaiting payment.
Recent Development
On August 8, 2025, the SLTF made a significant disbursement, paying five months' worth of allowances to all teacher trainees after a successful pre-audit of 10,000 trainees. Each trainee is expected to receive a total of ₵980, covering five months at a rate of ₵196 per month.
Reason for Delay in Payment
The delay in payment is attributed to some colleges failing to submit the necessary details of their teacher trainees in a timely manner. Trainees are encouraged to hold their colleges accountable rather than the Students Loan Trust Fund(SLTF) or Teacher Trainee's Association of Ghana (TTAG).
Relentless Efforts of Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana: Fast Tracking Payment of Allowance
The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana has been actively working behind the scenes to address the issue. TTAG has been aware of the situation causing the delay in payment and has engaged the SRC executives from the affected colleges of education to collaborate with the Allowance Unit of the colleges to expedite the process. However, the required details have not yet been submitted or recently done.
It may come as a surprise to you to learn that after TTAG's efforts, one college cited network issues as the reason for not submitting the details on time.
According to our research, some colleges have recently submitted their details: some on Monday and others on Wednesday of this week. Given this, how can the SLTF expect to process all the late submissions and pay the trainees on time?
Teacher trainees should blame their colleges for delay in receiving allowance not TTAG or SLTF.
TTAG always "Mean Well" for all teacher trainees as a model of development. We encourage you all to exercise patience as your details are processed for payment.
