On Sunday night, July 21, 2025, a tense gun battle unfolded in the Tema Industrial Area between the Tema Regional Police Command and a group of armed robbers. The incident began when the police received a distress call about a group of approximately ten armed men who had forcibly entered a warehouse. Officers from the Kpone District Command swiftly responded to the call and engaged the suspects in a shootout.
In the ensuing confrontation, three of the armed robbers were shot dead, while the rest managed to escape, some believed to have sustained gunshot wounds. The police recovered a foreign pistol, a locally made double-barrelled pistol with two rounds of ammunition, and 11 live BB rounds at the scene.
The bodies of the deceased were promptly deposited at the Police Hospital Morgue for identification and autopsy, as the investigation into the incident continues. The Ghana Police Service has urged the public to report any suspicious individuals with gunshot wounds in the area.
