SLTF to Prosecute Employers of Student Loan Defaulters
The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) in Ghana is about cracking down on employers of student loan defaulters.
According to Enoch Asumadu Koranteng, Manager in charge of Enforcement at SLTF, the institution will prosecute employers who fail to deduct loan repayments from employees' salaries. This measure is part of the SLTF's efforts to recover loans from defaulters.
Key Points about SLTF's Loan Repayment Process:
- Employer Obligations: Employers are mandated by law to deduct loan repayments from employees' salaries and remit them to the SLTF.
- Consequences of Non-Compliance: Failure to comply may result in prosecution.
- Tracking Defaulters: The SLTF uses its database to identify defaulters and their employers, and will issue demand notices and warning letters before taking legal action.
Loan Repayme: Borrowers can make payments through www.sitt.gov.gh/payloan.
Helpline: Defaulters can contact the SLTF helpline at 0302 751 020 for assistance.
