A helicopter with registration number 9G-ADW made an emergency landing in Ajumako Kokoben, Central Region, Ghana, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, due to poor weather conditions.
The aircraft, carrying four passengers, safely landed in a school park, drawing large crowds of curious onlookers. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the helicopter resumed its journey once the weather improved.
This incident occurred hours after a tragic military helicopter crash in Obuasi, Ashanti Region, which claimed the lives of eight people, including high-profile government officials such as:
- Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence
- Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation
- Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator
- Samuel Aboagye, former Member of Parliament
- Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the NDC and Presidential staffer
The Ghana Armed Forces helicopter crash has raised concerns about aviation safety in the country. President John Dramani Mahama has suspended all scheduled activities for the week and ordered flags to fly at half-mast until further notice.
