Allowance: Refund of Feeding Component Update for L400 Teacher Trainees in Colleges of Education

The Ghanaian government has taken a significant step towards supporting teacher trainees by paying six months allowance due to teacher trainees of the 47 colleges of education in Ghana. However, a refund of feeding components to L400 teacher trainees is underway.

This development is a welcome relief to the students, who have been eagerly awaiting financial support to aid them in their academic pursuits. L400 teacher trainees in colleges of education feed, rent, and pay other bills themselves. It is for this reason thier feeding components must be given back to them since their respective colleges do not feed them.

The Refund Details

According to a breakdown provided, each student receives a monthly allowance of GHC 400.00. Out of this amount, GHC 200.00 is paid to the student's E-zwich account, leaving a balance of GHC 200.00. After deducting GHC 4.00 for TTAG dues, the feeding component per month is calculated to be GHC 196.00.

Over a period of six months, the total feeding component amounts to GHC 1176.00. However, a system charge of GHC 1.00 per month is deducted, resulting in a total refund amount of GHC 1170.00 flat for each eligible student.
