The new governing board set by the Education Minister came out with the following recommendations and a more comprehensive reform of Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination;
1️⃣ The post graduate Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination will end or face out of the system not later than 30th August 2025
2️⃣ Therefore, A final resit for post graduate Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination must be organised for candidates who couldn't make it in previous Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination not later than 30th August, 2025( date might be extended depending on the circumstances beyond control)
3️⃣ A new reform which comprises of assessment, teaching praticum , evaluation and more structured mentorship programmes would be rolled out or introduced immediately after the newly set up committee comes out with a final last chance of post graduate graduate Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination
NB: The Examination will go beyond just paper testing but including a portion for practical assessment
4️⃣ Therefore I will advise all my students to pass the last chance of post graduate Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination given before such new reform takes place 2026 and beyond
Licensure Examination as a mode of assessing teacher readiness will incorporate practical based rather than just paper testing.
6️⃣ Finally, I will keep you updated when the committee together with National Teaching Council comes out with a new pratical based form of GTLE
NB: This would be the third reform of Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination.
2018---2022 was traditional model( NUMERACY, LITERACY AND ESSENTIAL PROFESSIONAL SKILLS)
2023---2025 was subject based GTLE (General professional knowledge, Related Pedagogy and subject specialization)
2026---- and beyond ( paper testing and more practical based)GTLE
